The restoration of the old building was a big challenge. The traditional Transylvanian Saxon house had stood empty for many years and was not in a good condition when we bought it.
In order to use the attic as guestrooms, the existing roofs needed to be taken down and were rebuilt completely. Several walls within the building were taken down or re-errected. The oak-beam structure of our new barn were put up by hand, as we could not get any cranes or heavy machinery onto our property.
After approximately three years of work, we were able to open Alma-Via to the public. Today, the inside looks more like this: The rooms
