We decided to leave our corporate jobs in Germany in order to start our Romanian adventure in 2016. We do not have any family-roots in Transylvania, but since 2008, we traveled the country a lot and liked how it made us feel. And we noticed on our trips that it was difficult to find accommodation which we truly liked. Hence the idea to start our own guesthouse grew stronger and stronger. After many years of thinking, wishing, searching and planning, we finally found THE house in Alma Vii, moved to Transylvania, and started renovating Casa Alma Via the next day.
Here are some more specifics about the Alma-Via hosts:
In Marion’s former life in Berlin, she was heading the international pop department at the biggest record company. She worked with many well known artists such as Lady Gaga, Amy Winehouse, Bryan Adams, and many more. But after 16 years of corporate life, she felt it was time for new challenges.
Because she has always enjoyed cooking, she finished the official cooking exam at the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce. And her former job has taught her how to organize events, how to make visitors feel comfortable and at home, and how to solve problems even if time is short. No wonder that you will probably either find her in the kitchen preparing a delicious meal, or working on something to make our guests feel welcome and special.
Mike has an MBA in online marketing and has been in traditional and digital marketing functions for most of his career. His last corporate job was Digital Marketing Director for a leading, global communications planning and media buying network. In this function he was responsible for digital strategies for a multinational advertiser across 10 markets. The job was based in Budapest.

Our lovely dog Alma is part of the family as well. She loves people, especially kids, and is extremely kind and friendly. However, she is not allowed in the restaurant or the guestrooms.

And so are the cats. They are not shy and always curious, but also not allowed in the restaurant or in the guestrooms.
Our German travel partner For Family Reisen has done a more extensive Interview with us here (in German).
